MENTAL PREPARATION

TRAINING

Mental preparation is a set of mental techniques you must practice to warm up your mind and body to perform at your highest level.

1

MENTAL REHEARSAL

  • Before Leaving for the Rink, Listen to Mental Rehearsal Audio
  • Prepare Your Unconscious Mind With the Details of Your Performance

2

TRAVEL TO THE GAME

  • Keep a Calm Mind. Follow Your Breath
  • Visualize Your “Highlight Reel” of Past    Performances
  • Feel the Emotions of Being in the “Zone”
    • Happy / Excited / Love / Trust / Joy

3

PERFORMANCE MINDSET

  • Arrive With a Performance Mindset
  • Stay Relaxed, Follow Your Breath
  • Keep Your Mind Still During Stretching and Physical Warm Up
  • While Getting Dressed, Mentally Visualize Game Plan and Your Strengths
  • Feel the Emotions of Being in the “Zone”
  • Create This With Imagery and Self Talk
  • On Ice Warm up. Dial in Your Skills. Feel the Mind/Body Connection of Being Engaged in the Game

Mental rehearsal is essentially giving your unconscious mind the details, images, feelings, and outcomes of your upcoming performance. Front-loading your mind so you can play calm and in the moment.
